Well, we’ve been eating out a lot lately and now Levi is suffering the consequences. We try to make wise choices but when life gets busy sometimes eating at a restaurant is the only option. In this country, you can get a basic Dominican meal – that’s rice, beans, roasted chicken, and plantain for 120 pesos. That’s about $4 for a huge meal. I mean huge as in Levi and I should be sharing it.
The problem is, you just never know what ingredients they put in things. So, now Levi’s allergies have been raging out of control for the past few weeks and his digestive system is suffering with the typical irritable bowel symptoms of celiac disease all over again. It’s so disappointing.
So, not only does Levi need to do a strict diet he almost has to purge his system of all the junk that’s been fed into it the past few weeks. To help with this Levi is now on a strict at-home food only diet. He is limiting his food to rice, potatoes, lettuce and tomatoes (salad), and chicken. He is only going to season his food with salt and pepper and maybe a bit of olive oil for cooking and dressing the salad. I think a week of this and he’ll go insane, but it should give his body a bit of a break from unknown variables in food.
If after two weeks he improves then I figure he’ll be ready to introduce other foods. I hope he does okay. I want to see him get better. When I see him suffering it makes me sad.
