{Cookbook Review} Spilling the Beans

I purchased a new cookbook at Costco a couple weeks back all about beans. It caught my eye especially because I have been working diligently to add more healthful bean recipes to my daily diet. Sometimes you get sick of the same old bean dishes.

This book is titled Spilling the Beans: Cooking and Baking with Beans and Grains Everyday by Julie Van Rosendaal and Sue Duncan.

The book is not a vegan or gluten-free focused book, however there are quite a few recipes that are suitable for either lifestyle and many which could be made vegan-friendly or gluten-free-friendly quite easily.

I have made two recipes out of this book already and after speaking with the authors via email they have graciously given me permission to reprint the recipes on my site for your benefit. I’ll be including them in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned.

I am really happy I bought this book and I highly recommend it to any who are looking to add more beans in their diet – whether you’re vegan or not.

Oh, and if you didn’t think beans could look beautiful or sexy … the photos in this book are excellent. And yes, beans really are sexy!

    I made the Chana Masala. It had excellent flavor. I made it with couscous instead of rice. I want to make Coconut Dal Curry next. Thought the Black Bean Quesadillas looked good too, especially with mango! Have to do some grocery shopping first!
