Remember in my last post (yes, from a couple months ago already!) where I mentioned how I was really sick during the month of April and I had a lot of time to rest and contemplate? Yeah. Well we found out what was making me feel so sick and tired.
I actually was up in the air about whether or not to share our announcement here but after giving it some more thought I figured, I shared pretty much everything else with you guys, why not this exciting news?
I have been fielding the same old questions from nearly everyone I talk to so I figured I’d include those questions and answers here because it seems like they’re questions everyone has!
When are you due? January 4th. Oh a New Year’s Baby?! My doctor is hoping it is. I think he wants his photo in the local paper. (This is literally how this conversation always goes like 98% of the time!)
Wow! Is this your first baby? Yes.
Was it planned? (The one I hate the most!) I wouldn’t say it was planned. But it wasn’t really unplanned. It was one of those ‘if it happens, it happens’ scenarios. Side note: I actually didn’t expect anything to happen because I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).
Is it a boy or girl? We don’t know.
Are you going to find out the sex? If the baby decides to cooperate, then probably yes. If the baby decides to be extra modest and hide out on the day of the ultrasound, then I guess not.
Are you hoping for a girl or a boy? Honestly, as cliche as it sounds, I really don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl. Once I got over the surprise of being pregnant I mostly just was excited about having a healthy baby. Because I’m super analytical about things in life I have tried to weigh out the pros and cons of having a boy or a girl – as far as I imagine them to be – and it’s still coming up as a tie as to which one I’m hoping for more.
Have you been sick as a dog? I won’t lie, the first month, before I even found out I was pregnant I was really not myself. I was exhausted. To the point that the doctor thought I had mono until the blood work proved otherwise. I also endured a couple months of all-day nausea. But to be honest I really have had it easy compared to some women who experience debilitating morning sickness all day long. I haven’t had any of that and I’m so thankful.
Are you keeping your pets? Really. People have asked. The answer: Of course. Why wouldn’t we?
Wow you’re big. Are you sure it’s not twins?! I didn’t think I was that big, but thanks, I guess? And yes we’re pretty sure there’s just one baby in there.
Wow you’re tiny. Are you sure you’re actually that many weeks along? No I just ate a huge plate of pasta and am just carrying a food baby. Okay, a bit too snarky? Sorry. The real answer: As far as I know and as far as the doctor is concerned I am exactly this many weeks along. Ultrasounds have confirmed my due date is pretty much bang on.
Where are Kato’s paws in the announcement photo? (Yes. Kato the Cat has that many fans that people have been asking about it.) Sorry to disappoint but it’s hard enough to get a photo of Kato by himself, let alone to get just his paws in a photo with two dogs and Levi and I. He just wasn’t willing to cooperate even for a good reason like a baby announcement.
There’s been a lot of other excitement in our home lately that’s not totally related to being pregnant or preparing for a new baby. I honestly feel like this is the busiest summer we’ve ever had and yet I can’t think of what specifically has kept me feeling so busy otherwise.
I promise I’m still working on the relaunch of this blog with a whole host of exciting new posts about a variety of topics. It’s been something I’m really looking forward to. I don’t have a specific date planned as of yet because well … there are days that I just felt like sleeping and doing nothing else so I am a teeny bit behind. But soon. Very soon.
Take care everyone!
