So far as I can tell I am a lousy gardener with not even a smudge of green in my thumbs.
I used to have a garden ages ago and Levi ended up taking care of it. Now that we have a house again I thought I’d give gardening another try. Except I don’t have a real garden spot. So I found some space in the flower beds out back that I figured would work for the few things I wanted to plant.
I searched everywhere for heirloom tomato plants and found one. Just one single variety of Brandywine tomatoes. I got one plant. I also bought a San Marzano tomato plant and a chocolate cherry tomato plant. I decided to try the Topsy Turvy and see how it works out.
I also planted (from seed) okra and spaghetti squash. That’s it. That’s my effort for gardening this year.
One thing I’ve learned about myself is that I am incredibly impatient. My tomatoes aren’t producing fruit yet and I can’t tell which of the green things sprouting up are actual plants or weeds. The way things are going I doubt I’ll ever see any vegetables growing out in my back flower bed.
What I am most looking forward to is a toasted tomato sandwich using my own home grown heirloom tomatoes.
Here’s hoping . . .
