Goodness sake Pinterest is probably my second favorite thing to waste time on these days. Instagram is still my #1 love. But Pinterest is great for when I’ve already seen what I can see on Instagram and I’m bored/lazy/need distracting. Pinterest is literally never ending. I’ll never see everything there is to see on Pinterest and I love that.
So here’s this episode of These Things I Love on Pinterest Right Now.
Travel
Because it’s January and we’ve had the coldest cold snaps and windiest wind so far this winter. We haven’t had tons of snow but the frigid cold and ice, ice, ice is wearing on me. Let’s be real, in November, when I had to drag our garbage and recycling bins from the field across the road because the wind blew them that far, I was already done with winter. Most of our friends are heading somewhere hot this winter and it’s just not in the cards for us this year. I’m so jealous. Instead I’ll just dream of far away destinations.
Side note: We are planning a family vacation to NYC in the summer this year, if all goes to plan and this house sells. (What? Selling the house?! Yes.) So there’s been a ton of pins about NYC with kids that I plan on researching like crazy before we get there.
DIY
I went a little crazy recently in the DIY board. I haven’t yet done any of the DIY things I’ve ever pinned. But, that’s kind of what Pinterest is all about right? Pinning ideas that I’ll never actually try. Ha, maybe not quite, but that seems like what happens for me. What got me on a pinning frenzy though was seeing different shelving, furniture, and decor using black iron plumbing pipe and wood. I love the simple, industrial look and we have easy access to black iron pipe, courtesy of the plumbing biz. I do think we’ll try some of those projects this Spring.
Crochet
My mother-in-law taught me a few basic crochet stitches when I wanted to try to make copycat Padraig booties for Jonas when he was like a year old. I promptly forgot everything she taught me before I even came home and never tackled a crochet project again until very recently – maybe a month or two ago. I decided to give it a try again because I was bored and didn’t feel like knitting. I watched some YouTube videos and re-learned the basics and then some! I’ve made quite a few projects already – beanies for all of us and a scarf for me. I attempted a dinosaur hat with spikes for Jonas but got the sizing wrong somehow so I’ll have to re-try that one again. I also am starting a baby blanket for a friend as a way to challenge myself to do a larger project, but also to try a new stitch pattern.
This crochet board is a sub-board of my For When I Might Become Crafty board. Who knew I’d actually end up being crafty-ish one day! I also love the recent (well, what, like a couple months old by now probably) updates to Pinterest that allow for creating sub-boards and also for the way easy organizing of old pins to move them to other boards. I remember how cumbersome that used to be.
