This is a quick and thrifty at-home version of the popular restaurant take-out classic, Beef & Broccoli.
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup gluten free soy sauce (Bragg's)
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (use less or none if you can't handle heat)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and fry it up until no longer pink, breaking up larger chunks, but not breaking it into a fine mince. You want some substance to the ground beef.
  2. Meanwhile, steam the broccoli florets until tender-crisp. Do not overcook. You want them to be bright green with a tiny bit of a bite still.
  3. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, gluten free soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, garlic powder, chili flakes and ground ginger.
  4. Once ground beef is cooked through and broccoli is steamed, add broccoli and sauce to the skillet and remove from heat. Stir to combine. Sprinkle with additional sesame seeds for garnish, if you're so inclined. Serve over hot jasmine rice.
